Barriers being removed in Belfast

BBC

The last remaining security barriers in Belfast are being removed this week.

One of them on the Grosvenor Road was dismantled on Tuesday evening, while others in the city centre have already been taken down.

The barriers were erected in the early days of the Troubles, and were used to close the city centre to all traffic at night.

Their removal comes on the same week as shops in the centre of Belfast extended their opening hours to 1900 BST.
