Sinn Féin ready to move on policing

23/01/2006 - 19:19:03

Sinn Féin's chief negotiator Martin McGuinness has said his party is ready to move on the issue of policing.

He was speaking in Belfast today, as the British Prime Minister and the Taoiseach prepare for their summit in Dublin on Thursday.

Mr McGuinness said Sinn Féin would make a move, once the power-sharing executive is back up-and-running, with the DUP fully on board.

"What we are striving for is a massive break-through in the peace process," he said.

"We have made it clear to the two governments and to Ian Paisley the circumstances under which we will deal with the issue of policing."
