SF to hold rallies against

Sinn Féin is planning to hold a series of demonstrations on both sides of the border today to protest against "political policing" by the PSNI.

The rallies, which are due to take place in Dublin, Cork, Belfast and Derry, have been arranged in response to the so-called Stormontgate scandal.

Last week, Sinn Féin's former head of administration at Stormont, Denis Donaldson, admitted he had been a British spy for more than 20 years.

Mr Donaldson had been arrested and charged with involvement in an IRA spy ring at Stormont, but the charges against him and his two co-accused were dropped earlier this month.

The arrests were carried out following a high-profile PSNI raid on Sinn Féin's offices at Stormont that led directly to the collapse of the North's power-sharing institutions in October 2002.
